Day 5 of 14

Immune Support with Ellagic Acid

Today’s recipe is a re-do from yesterday’s flavonoid challenge.

This Chocolate Berry Smoothie is not only chock-full of antioxidants, but it’s blackberries give you a punch of ellagic acid.

This recipe calls for 1 banana and 1 teaspoon of maple syrup as sweeteners. Again, you can cut down on free/added sugars by substituting a second banana for the maple syrup in this recipe.

What is Ellagic Acid?

  • Ellagic acid is another antioxidant that keeps your skin and mucosal barriers strong and keeps viruses out!

Where Can You Find Ellagic Acid?

  • The foods with the largest amounts of Ellagic Acid are dark berries, like blackberries and black raspberries; nuts like walnuts and pistachios; and spices like red onions and cloves.
