Immune Support with Ellagic Acid
Today’s recipe is a re-do from yesterday’s flavonoid challenge.
This Chocolate Berry Smoothie is not only chock-full of antioxidants, but it’s blackberries give you a punch of ellagic acid.
This recipe calls for 1 banana and 1 teaspoon of maple syrup as sweeteners. Again, you can cut down on free/added sugars by substituting a second banana for the maple syrup in this recipe.
What is Ellagic Acid?
Ellagic acid is another antioxidant that keeps your skin and mucosal barriers strong and keeps viruses out!
Where Can You Find Ellagic Acid?
The foods with the largest amounts of Ellagic Acid are dark berries, like blackberries and black raspberries; nuts like walnuts and pistachios; and spices like red onions and cloves.
